A plane has crashed in the São Paulo state of Brazil, killing all 62 people on board.
The twin-engine turboprop was flying from Cascavel in the southern state of Paraná to Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo city when it crashed on Friday in the town of Vinhedo, according to the airline Voepass.
Footage circulating on social media shows the plane descending vertically, spiraling as it fell.
After initial uncertainty about the number of people on board, Voepass confirmed on Saturday that the ATR 72-500 had 58 passengers and four crew members. There were no survivors , Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed solidarity with the families and friends of the victims.
The Governor of São Paulo state, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, declared three days of mourning.
Authorities have said that the plane's black boxes have been recovered. ATR, the French-Italian aircraft manufacturer, stated it would cooperate with the investigation.
The plane crashed in a residential area, but no one on the ground was injured.
Officials stated that only one house in a condominium complex was damaged.
